Are NEWSPAPERS Passing off Bullshit as Research?

The Times of India published an article (I’ve left a link to it below) about some research conducted by Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society. I went online and found out the translation for ‘Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society’ is ‘I’m not getting laid so none of you guys should get some either’.

The research stated the following:  “Boys who see pornography are more likely to harass girls and indulge in casual sex, a new study has found.” (Pornography here means x-rated movie and clips).

The Times article is so full of bullshit, it’s perfect if you want to raise your blood pressure. Let’s divide the statement into two parts: Pornography makes boys more likely to - ‘harass girls’ and ‘indulge in casual sex’.

Now, let’s look at the harass girls part. Were Duryodhana and Dushasana avid porn viewers? Did they log onto savitabhabhi.com regularly? No they didn’t. Yet, they decided to disrobe a female in front of other males. Was pornography responsible for this act? Video pornography started around 1900. So is pornography still responsible for all the acts of harassment and rape against women prior to 1900? In spite of us being so ‘culturally’ and ‘morally’ correct why was sati, dowry and female infanticides rampant during the yesteryears? Was pornography responsible for all this?

Now let’s move on to the ‘indulge in casual sex’ part. The article says pornography makes boys more likely to indulge in casual sex. If a boy indulges in casual sex – assuming he’s straight – he would want to do it with a female. So, what prompts females to indulge in casual sex? Whatever it is, I want to know. Anyone out there looking for something to research on here’s your topic.

This article also implicitly means that before pornography came around men weren’t keen about casual sex. BULL SHIT! Nothing stops a man from casual sex and this is since the first man evolved (or was created). In fact the first word a female child utters is ‘mother’. On the contrary, a new born male child looks at the nurse and says ‘MILF’. Pornography has nothing to do with this. It’s just the way we are but doesn’t mean we disrespect women and go around harassing them.

People who believe such research (read: bullshit) also believe things such as “Video games are making children more violent.” Yes, these political party members who go around rioting and burning buses grew up on Half-life, Doom, Quake and Serious Sam. These guys do sit all night long playing Call of Duty – Modern Warfare. How come no one says, “After playing Call of Duty my son decided to join the army” or “After playing FIFA 2010 my son has started playing football in real life”? Are video games so effectively programmed that they just bring out the worst in people?

And what does the world have against casual sex? How is consensual casual sex between two people above the legal age limit wrong? Most parents will say that they can’t deal with it and they don’t know what they are getting into. Well, if parents knew what their kids can deal with and what is the right thing for them to get into, how come so many of then commit suicide from education pressure?

If you are wondering, ‘what are the answers to the above questions?’ I’ll quote Maddox. “Those are rhetorical questions, and the answer is my fist.”

PS: Here’s the sex education that I received in school. Lecture starts, the teacher says, “What is sayks (his pronunciation of sex)?” Pauses and continues “Sayks is nothing but male or female. Now let us get on with our moral education class.”
