82 year old Hansaben Ghansukhia had just created her first social networking account on the famous social networking website called facebook. Little did she know that her maiden attempt at online socializing would cost her her life. Hansaben, who suffered from colour blindness, was depressed because she was unable to contribute to the ongoing facebook 'bra-colour revolution' which according to a group of ingenious-out-of-work-net-savvy-women is most likely the last efficient way of spreading breast cancer awareness! As the status updates on her profile started covering the entire colour spectrum, Hansaben, unable to bear the apparent-shame anymore, took the drastic step. A suicide note was found next to her body and accordingly her facebook status was updated for the first, and sadly, the last time!
The Gujarat government has promised a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the family of the victim and also decided to initiate a judicial probe to look into the matter. The National Commission for Women has taken matters into its own hands and promised a free helpline for women facing similar problems. Chief Minister, Narenbhai, has promised to name the next electric pole -- 'the pole of Hansa', in memory of the departed soul. Mr. Ghansukhia had his reservations, though. Google also created an honorary Orkut account for the late Mrs. Ghansukhia and warned users of the subliminal suicidal messages embedded in facebook status updates.
BigFish News spoke to Hansaben's grandson Jitesh who could not believe that his grandmother could take such a drastic step. Speaking to our correspondent, Jitesh said that Hansaben was a commited social worker and lead a very colourful life despite her colour blindness. The other family members could not be reached for comments.
The Facebook bra revolution found unexpected support in the form of the communist government of Cuba which has decided to change the iconic image of one of the nations greatest hero, Che, in support of the bra revolution. Cynics still view it as communist propoganda.
